The Pilgrim Monument was built in 1892 to honor the Mayflower's first landing in the New World, right in Provincetown. Overlooking beautiful Provincetown Harbor, the monument is 252 feet tall; visitors may either climb stairs to the top, or remain at the base and explore a museum chronicling the town's rich maritime history, the early days of American theater and other offshoots of Pilgrim influence. The monument sits near the Provincetown Harbor, overlooking the water and the nearby Cape Cod National Seashore.
